The chest makes a rare appearance. Despite the fact that it is so practical. Therefore we adopted the classic furniture type and reinterpreted it: A filigree line in the form of a rope divides the vertical surfaces. And simultaneously ensures that Trude retains her tension.

A classic furniture type reinterpreted

Let’s put it this way, Trude is a piece of tradition. After all chests have been indispensable since the Roman Empire – for storage and transportation. So we did not want to be without them. In contrast to richly decorated Renaissance chests, colourfully painted rustic chests or frozen chests our Trude is rooted in simple timelessness. Completely in Moormann tradition.

An all-purpose Trude

Trude has a lot of friends. This may be because she doesn’t just take, she gives as well. She can store bed linen, clothes and personal treasures. When closed she turns into a storage surface or seat. She even flaunts her little secret: One single taut rope provides Trude with support and stability. But there is one decision Trude unfortunately cannot make for you, whether you prefer a black or a red rope. We enclose both in each package just to be on the safe side.

No tools and no screws

What is Nils Holger Moormann’s problem with screws? He doesn’t have one. There are even several furniture pieces in our collection that display screws as an eye-catching design feature. However, in general we attempt to find new ways. In the case of Trude it‘s the clever tension mechanism, which is completely unexpected: interlock the panels, pass the cable through, create tension, finished.

Material Properties and Care

FU Black (birch plywood)

Material properties:

Several birch veneers are cross-glued, creating a material with a high level of dimensional stability. Generally our birch plywood panels are surface-coated or oiled. They are produced in Finland. The slowly-growing trees in the Finnish climate create fine-grain wood of consistently high quality. The following properties can occur: knot inclusions on the edge and possibly different edge colors (image 1), inclusions, glossy stripes or matt areas on the surface (image 2).

Cleaning and care:

Light surface soiling on the untreated edges can be removed using fine-grain sandpaper. Coated surfaces can be cleaned using a soft cloth with lukewarm water and a small amount of colourless washing-up liquid. Please only wipe oiled surfaces with a slightly damp cloth and as necessary treat with colourless oil.
