Siebenschläfer

Christoffer Martens

Siebenschläfer
Why make it complicated, when it can be so easy? Siebenschläfer‘s individual elements are interlocked at lightning speed for assembly. Completely without screws or other connecting parts. Thanks to the asymmetric construction the bed also cuts a fine figure. Simply a dream bed!

Pluggable and metal-free

Siebenschläfer is a pluggable piece of furniture from the bed family. Restrained and metal-free in its construction, it is particularly nimble in its body structure. Its four individual parts can be combined into a bed in a flash. To fall into hibernation-like states or easy daydreams. Due to its pleasant nature, Siebenschläfer can also be found in bedrooms outside of Europe. His rest periods last from the beginning of January to the end of December. His only natural enemy is the alarm clock.

Description

Siebenschläfer

Design: Christoffer Martens, 2007

Regional constructed

The good is so close, they say. True, we find. That is why Siebenschläfer just as all our furniture is produced within a radius of 40 kilometres around our headquarters in Chiemgau. It was originally thought only selfish. It was important to us that our ideas and designs quickly come into the right hands. Real specialists who not only speak our language, but who even understand us without many words.

Amazingly simple

Simply produce furniture? Not really our thing. We are in search of furniture creations based on a special idea. Sometimes absurd, sometimes ingenious, sometimes a detail, sometimes a revolution. You have to search for a long time and keep on refining until everything is right. But sometimes it’s all worth it. Because we fall in love with the result. We immediately fell in love with the simple connecting principle used in Siebenschläfer. As the penetration of the side elements is asymmetric, the overall picture is thrilling despite the simplest of constructions.

Material Properties and Care
Siebenschläfer Material properties and care

FU Black (birch plywood)

Material properties:

Several birch veneers are cross-glued, creating a material with a high level of dimensional stability. Generally our birch plywood panels are surface-coated or oiled. They are produced in Finland. The slowly-growing trees in the Finnish climate create fine-grain wood of consistently high quality. The following properties can occur: knot inclusions on the edge and possibly different edge colors (image 1), inclusions, glossy stripes or matt areas on the surface (image 2).

Cleaning and care:

Light surface soiling on the untreated edges can be removed using fine-grain sandpaper. Coated surfaces can be cleaned using a soft cloth with lukewarm water and a small amount of colourless washing-up liquid. Please only wipe oiled surfaces with a slightly damp cloth and as necessary treat with colourless oil.

Siebenschläfer Material properties and care

MDF Pure

Material properties:

To produce MDF materials, extremely fine, mainly bark-free wood is pressed homogenously in longitudinal and transverse direction to produce a dense wood material. Our MDF materials are produced in Germany and Austria. Characteristics of industrial production as well as slight color variations in different production batches are therefore visible. Due to signs of usage on the uncoated raw material, the furniture develops an individual character over its lifespan.

Cleaning and care:

MDF is a semi-finished material designed for coating. We use MDF for its characteristic aesthetic as an uncoated raw material. Contact or cleaning with liquids should therefore be avoided.
Light surface dirt on the untreated edges or surfaces can be removed using fine-grain sandpaper.
